Activyl Spot On solution is a monthly flea treatment that works like no other flea product on the market. Activyl works by using a method called bioactivation, a method in which the active ingredient, indoxacarb is fully activated by using the flea's own enzymes. Activyl can be used for both dogs and cats, and kills not only adult fleas, but also flea eggs and larvae too; thereby, breaking the flea's lifecycle.

For: Dogs and Cats 8 weeks of age or older

  • New technology for flea control
  • Kills fleas, flea eggs and larvae
  • Breaks flea's lifecycle
  • Quick-drying and fragrance free
  • Waterproof even after bathing

Activyl works to break the flea's lifecycle by killing not only adult fleas, but also flea eggs and larvae, which reduces the chances of your pet becoming reinfested. Activyl is spread through your pet's skin and coat. When a flea lands on your pet, it takes up the active ingredient of Activyl and causes the enzymes in the flea to change. Activyl then reaches its full active form and the flea becomes paralyzed and unable to feed. This process is called bioactivation -- the newest technology in flea control. In addition, Activyl is waterproof, quick-drying, and fragrance free.

Do not use Activyl for dogs on cats, or allow your cat to lick or groom a dog treated with Activyl. Do not use on cats or kittens under 2 lbs, or dogs or puppies under 4 lbs, and no kittens or puppies under 8 weeks of age. Certain medications may interact with pesticides. If signs of sensitivity occur, contact your veterinarian immediately.

More Information

Brand Name: Activyl

Generic Name: Indoxacarb

Activyl is a monthly spot-on flea treatment that works like no other flea product on the market. Activyl works by a method called bioactivation. This method uses the flea's own enzymes to change Activyl into its fully active form. It kills not only adult fleas, but it also kills eggs and larvae too; thereby, breaking the flea's lifecycle.

To apply Activyl for small dogs and cats:
Hold the applicator in an upright position away from your face and snap the tip by bending it and folding it back on itself. Part the hair and place the applicator tip against the skin on the base of the skull. Applying Activyl at the base of the skull will help prevent your pet from licking the product. Squeeze the applicator firmly and apply the entire contents directly to the skin. Do not allow Activyl to run off and do not have contact with the treated area until it is completely dry. Reapply Activyl every 30 days.

For Larger Dogs:
Start applying the contents between the shoulder blades working your way down to the tail while applying Activyl in 2-3 spots along the way. Make sure you thoroughly part the hair on each spot so the applicator touches the skin and not just the fur.

What are the side effects of Activyl:
Individual sensitivities while rare, may occur after using any pesticide product. In cats, accidental ingestion may cause intermittent salivation, licking of the face, shaking of the head, and squinting.

What special precautions are there:
Do not use on pregnant or lactating females. Do not use on puppies or kittens under 8 weeks of age. Use the entire contents on each cat or dog and do not split one tube between pets. Weigh your dog to ensure you are applying the right dose formulated for the weight of your dog. Consult your vet before using on debilitated, aged, or medicated dogs. Certain medications can interact with pesticides. If signs of sensitivity occur, contact your veterinarian immediately.

If swallowed:
Call a physician or poison control center or a doctor for treatment advice. Drink 1 or 2 glasses of water and do not induce vomiting unless told to by poison control center. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

If in eyes:
Hold eyes open and rinse slowly and gently with water for 15-20 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, continue rinsing. Call a physician or poison control center or a doctor for treatment advice.

If on skin:
Wash thoroughly with plenty of soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation persists.

How should I store Activyl:
Do not remove tube from pack until ready to use. Store in a cool dry place inaccessible to children and pets. Do not refrigerate and protect from direct sunlight.

I have a house full of animals and have been flea free for years. I faithfully used the over the counter once a month flea control and never had any issues until this year. Oh my word, we were invaded with fleas! I tried changing my monthly flea program, I gave everyone dips and shampoos to no avail. Finally I contacted my vet in desperation. They told me that the old favorite flea controls where no longer effective and that because we had a very mild winter, the flea population was not killed off. They recommended the activyl and boy am I glad they did. Within 24 hours it seemed as if the fleas took off for parts unkown. What a relief. I highly recommend this product.

I have 2 dogs small and large with living in Florida the fleas have been horrible this year. I have tried almost every over the counter and Rx available with no relief. I was a little skeptical trying Activyl because my small dog has many skin problems, but it couldn't be worse than these fleas we have been dealing with. After not even 24 hours my dogs are flea free! I am super amazed at this stuff. NO skin reactions or problems of any kind.

I had been using a topical flea product for the past 15 years when it stopped working. I tried a couple of other brands without success. I was so frustrated. I read the reviews about this product and tried it as a last resort. I didn't have much hope but it actually worked! It took a few day but the fleas were gone! I have six cats and we are all very happy. I have just ordered my second box.

I was using Frontline, and the fleas were getting fat on it. One of my cats died from the fleas, and I needed help. The vet recommended Activyl. In less than a week there were no fleas on any of my family. I have 15 rescue cats.

I have been struggling with fleas since September. I have 5 cats & 4 dogs. Frontline products were not touching the fleas. I bought the Activyl for all my pets. With in a few days, the fleas were gone. This is a product I will stick with.
