Simparica TRIO is a monthly chewable tablet that protects your dog against heartworm disease, five types of ticks, fleas, roundworms and hookworms. It has been demonstrated to be safe for puppies as young as 8 weeks old weighing 2.8 pounds or more.

Simparica TRIO contains three active pharmaceutical ingredients, sarolaner, moxidectin, and pyrantel pamoate. Sarolaner is an acaricide and insecticide belonging to the isoxazoline group. Sarolaner inhibits the function of the neurotransmitter gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor and glutamate receptor, and works at the neuromuscular junction in insects. This results in uncontrolled neuromuscular activity leading to death in insects or acarines. Moxidectin is an endectocide in the macrocyclic lactone class. Moxidectin acts by interfering with the chloride channel-mediated neurotransmission in the parasite. This results in paralysis and death of the parasite. Pyrantel pamoate is a nematocide belonging to the tetrahydropyrimidine class. Pyrantel acts as a depolarizing, neuromuscular-blocking agent in susceptible parasites, which causes paralysis and death or expulsion of the organism.

Uses
Simparica TRIO prevents heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis, kills adult fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations, the treatment and control of tick infestations with Amblyomma americanum (lone star tick), Amblyomma maculatum (Gulf Coast tick), Dermacentor variabilis (American dog tick), Ixodes scapularis (black-legged tick), and Rhipicephalus sanguineus (brown dog tick), and the treatment and control of roundworm (immature adult and adult Toxocara canis and adult Toxascaris leonina) and adult hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum and Uncinaria stenocephala) infections for one month in dogs and puppies 8 weeks of age and older, and weighing 2.8 pounds or greater.

Cautions
Sarolaner, one of the ingredients in Simparica TRIO, is a member of the isoxazoline class. This class has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions including tremors, ataxia, and seizures. Seizures have been reported in dogs receiving isoxazoline class drugs, even in dogs without a history of seizures. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders. Prior to administration of Simparica TRIO, dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infections. Infected dogs should be treated with an adulticide to remove adult heartworms. Simparica TRIO is not effective against adult D. immitis. The safe use of Simparica TRIO has not been evaluated in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs.

Give your dog one chewable monthly, with or without food. Follow your veterinarian's instructions exactly as directed. The recommended minimum dose is 0.54 mg/lb (1.2 mg/kg) sarolaner, 0.011 mg/lb (24 ??/kg) moxidectin, and 2.27 mg/lb (5 mg/kg) pyrantel (as pamoate salt).

In case your dog is like my two who only will eat chews and that??s if they taste like actual chicken which is a pain because most of the time nothing ever does this is an actual tablet/pill that my pickiest dog actually sat down and chewed right up and swallowed. This is so far perfect!

Considering it's one pill for everything - easier than multi dosing. Our Shih Tzu won't eat it, so we wrap it in cheese. That works.

We live in western North Carolina where it rains ticks. This is the only thing that works. We tried topicals and flea and tick collars and the are useless. It is very expensive, but with the Pet Meds discount and an additional $25 manufacturers vet rebate on the next visit I think I can get the six month cost down to $105 for a 30 lbs dog. The first package purchased from the office cost $155. I previously used Sentinel Plus that has no tick protection and is marginal for fleas. If ticks aren??t your problem you can get something else for a third the cost. Subtracted one star for cost.

It works!!! I stay with my mom..she has 2 dogs of her own. Her 2 dogs had a major flea problem (her two were not using this product) while mine managed to stay flea & tick free on this product!!
